LIVE MORE. DO MORE. RIDE MORE.
When you are in the custom bike business you find opportunity rolling by on an ongoing basis. One opportunity came from a corporate bike that was on the IMS tour, Sturgis and Daytona.
After tour retirement, the V-Plus engine wouldn’t run correctly and the owner had dropped $1,000 trying to fix it and wanted to replace it with a EVO or Twin-Cam.
So I looked at this engine and thought,
I bet I could do a little horse trading and come out of it with something really special.
Jason Grimes of Northeast Chop Shop owed me an EVO so I worked a deal out with the end result of me picking up the mill in Daytona Bikeweek earlier this year and the EVO is being delivered in June to a shop in North Carolina. So far, so good.
About the V-Plus Engine
The engine is from Crazy Horse Motorcycles LLC, based in Kent, Washington. They are the manufacturer of the “V-Plus” V-Twin motorcycle engine and are an OEM supplier of this engine to individuals and custom bike builders. The firm as of this writing out of business.
John White of Crazy Horse LLC builds Indian-style engines as a replacement for Harley-Davidson EVOs and the bikes built by Indian Motorcycle Company in Gilroy, California. These EVO-based powerplants were purchased from Performance Assembly Solutions (PAS), a Michigan based company and division of Roush Racing/Ford.
Next installment – I made some inquirers and found “the” guy in Florida that can troubleshoot these mills. We will pick up the story after the engine comes back from the “heart” consultant.
